Toyota Motor to Recall Imported Lexus LX470 Cars in China   Jul 30, 2010

SHANGHAI, July 30, SinoCast -- Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. just reported to China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) that some imported Lexus LX470 cars would be recalled from August 27, 2010 because of defects resulting from the steering shafts.

These products were made by Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor in the period from May 6, 2002 to August 8, 2007. In Mainland China, 1,123 LX470s under the luxury brand will be involved in the recall.

Toyota Motor (China) will inform related customers of the issue by means of letter, asking them to reserve exchange service on time in some stores. Professional technicians will test the steering shafts, replace them with new steering shafts, and add necessary auto parts.

It will not be the first recall by Toyota Motor in China this year. In February, Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd., a China-based joint venture of the Japanese auto giant, announced that it would recall 75,552 RAV4 cars in China from February 28, 2010 to February 27, 2011.
